We survive in a violent world, and part of our job as writers is rendering the aspects of life into fiction. How do we show the various ways that violence impacts a person and how do we show the ways that it is possible or impossible to heal from such trauma? By looking at examples from Denis Johnson's ANGELS, TREE OF SMOKE, and TRAIN DREAMS, we will investigate and explore the methods of bloodshed, tears, and living again. We will also do craft exercises in this one-day course.
This course is $50. Please note, all proceeds from this course will be donated to the Ali Forney Center, the nation's largest non-profit providing shelter and healthcare services to LGBTQ youth experiencing homelessness in NYC.
