Have a fixation or obsession that is consuming or at once consumed your life? Love something (could be a food, a movie, a place, or somthing unexpected) but not sure how to write about it? Not sure how to blend real life events with those going on in your internal monologue? Elizabeth Teets is here to help!

As John Waters says: "Without obsession, life is nothing."  Elizabeth Teets believes the same applies to writing. In this class you will learn to mine your life for obsessions and the stories around them through generative exercises and prompts. With these prompts you will begin to draft a short essay that braids the internal with the external.

What to expect each class:

  • Generative time to write and share based on prompts and exercises.

  • Discussion of assigned readings that gives students examples of form and similar themes.

  • Time to give and receive peer feedback on work submitted by students each week and cheer each other on.

  • Coaching and guidance from Elizabeth.

Student Testimonial

“As a returning student of Elizabeth’s, I am a lifelong fan. She assigns thought-provoking readings, crafts the most creative writing prompts, and inspires her students to expand their skills and confidence. Elizabeth’s deep knowledge of the literary world is invaluable, but what sets her apart is the care she brings to her feedback. She takes the time to read your work closely, offering thoughtful, insightful guidance tailored to your goals. Receiving her critiques is one of the most rewarding parts of the learning process. I hope every writer has the chance to cross paths with Elizabeth on their journey.” — former student
